Saturday night was crazy. Standing outside, is was very quiet, but every minute or so you would hear a loud crack and a boom as a limb or whole tree came down. At 6 am Sunday we had our closest call with a large oak limb that fell right next to the house, probably 6" diameter and 30 feet long. There are a few of those in the yard now and this weekend will be a lot of chainsaw work cleaning up. We are lucky that nothing hit the house or cars.

That big mistake was the first section for us and afterwards we paid much more attention to the blazes. It is definitely a tough trail to follow at parts. I also started putting the track into my gps watch before the hike so you could easily see if you were getting off track, and if you did, which way to go to get back to the trail.

That looks like so much fun. I like the fourth picture a lot but it took me a while to figure out where the rest of your body was. Good finish time considering the hills and obsticles.

9000 is a huge event! It's funny I just saw someone wearing the warrior dash t shirt in the hall outside my office

I don't think you will have a problem at all with summer hiking boots as long as they are waterproofed. If you can use them with crampons great, otherwise you could just climb the boot ladder. We saw lots of people going up LG in a variety of footwear. Personally I love having the crampons on, but I think I would be comfortable without as long as I had an axe with me.

LG had snow top to bottom as did hillmans but if you are looking for a new route left gully is great. It was way more crowded than hillmans since it is the only top to bottom run in the bowl (unless you are freakin nuts - we did see someone go over the lip  Shocked) I will be curious to see the changes in one week.

10 PM may be close to when we get to PNVC on Friday there. I think we are leaving after work, unless everyone can leave earlier.

You're brave to ski under the lift with all the hecklers overhead...

Not big on waiting for the lifts...especially at me bad flashbacks to childhood, waiting 45 minutes for the old double chair. Maddie and I might have to take a sick day instead.

How were the lift lines on Saturday? I am thinking of taking Madeline up there again sometime.

Off piste at Butternut? Whereabouts did you explore? I always thought there was tons of undeveloped land between Lucifers and Whip, not sure why.
